I spent eleven months living at sea and working as an on board reporter for Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. An offshore sailing race that circumnavigates the globe powered by wind alone. I lived my day to day life and alongside 174 different crew, documenting their stories through the highs and the lows.

Back To The Water is a short film featuring female surfers on the east coast. Starting in Rockaway and working our way up the coast chasing the swell from Brooklyn to Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, and ending in Nova Scotia. This isn’t meant to be a hardcore sports film but instead a cinematic piece featuring women who have decided to make the ocean a part of their life no matter how inconvenient, cold, or sparse the conditions are. All ages, all different walks of life, filmed on Super 8 and digital.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Makson, a boy from Ukraine who fled from war at age 17. Over the course of three short days we decided to make this and got to share his story/perspective. It was a beautiful and challenging experience and I’m feeling encouraged by the hope he’s found amidst the pain. I hope you will too.

When confronted by a family decision to move across the country, the relationship of siblings,
Zoe and Chase, are pushed to the limits. Once the true reason for the move comes out, the two are
able to embrace each other and the life transition with new found harmony.
A quickly-created project with 20 Cast + Crew.
Film shot in Los Angeles California in 3 days. Script & story written in 3 weeks. Edited in 1 week.
